1). Students should be reading 15-20 minutes every night using strategies such as: rereading to understand, using background knowledge and journaling. If a student does not understand certain words and rereading does not work, he/she should look up the meaning in the dictionary.
2). We will started collecting textbooks on Friday. Any student not returning their Actions and Reactions textbook will be issued a bill for the cost ($52.95).Textbooks, or funds, must be received no later than Thursday, June 24/10. Cheques may be made payable to Barnhill Memorial School.
3). Literature Circles cont. If you miss a class, be sure to check with your group to see what you missed and borrow a novel during SSR to catch up, if necessary. Finish today's activity sheet. You should now have three (3) different sheets completed.
Reading only 10 minutes per day can result in students learning about 1000 words each year.
